Short answer: the best logistics provider for a natural cosmetics brand is one that tracks every unit by batch and expiry date (FEFO rotation), handles products without spoiling the brand experience and can serve your webshop and channels such as pharmacies, parapharmacies and health food shops at the same time. In Spain, the 3PLs most often compared for this profile are Bolian, Amphora Logistics, Bigblue, Logisfashion, byrd and ShipBob.
If your stock is in Spain and you sell online and to pharmacies or shops from the same inventory, Bolian is a particularly good fit. If you are looking for a network of warehouses in several European countries, look at Bigblue, byrd or ShipBob. Below we explain which questions decide the choice and what each provider publishes on its website.

What does a natural cosmetics brand need from its logistics?
Natural cosmetics are subject to the same rules as other cosmetics (in the EU, Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009), but they have specific features that affect day-to-day operations:
- Shorter shelf life. Many formulas use fewer preservatives, or preservatives of natural origin. That makes it essential to always ship what expires first (FEFO), not what arrived first (FIFO).
- Batch traceability. If a batch has to be recalled, the provider must know within minutes which units are still in stock and which customers received the rest.
- Sensitivity to temperature and light. Oils, butters and balms without synthetic stabilisers can be affected by heat. Ask how they are stored and how shipments are protected in summer.
- Delicate packaging. Glass, unlaminated cardboard and reusable containers need protective packaging that does not contradict the brand’s sustainability message.
- Kits, samples and gifts. Routines, seasonal packs and samples in the order are common in the sector and require handling.
- Several channels. Many natural brands sell online and also in pharmacies, parapharmacies, health food shops or organic stores, with carton orders and their own paperwork.
Which questions decide the shortlist for a cosmetics 3PL?
- Does it run FEFO automatically? “We control expiry dates” is not enough: ask to see how the system blocks a batch and how it chooses the unit that gets shipped.
- How does it handle a batch recall? Ask for the procedure and how long it takes to give you the list of recipients.
- Does it prepare online orders and pharmacy or retail orders at the same time? And whether it does so from the same stock or from separate inventories.
- What does it do with returns? In cosmetics, an opened unit does not go back on sale. The provider must inspect, document and decide using criteria you have approved.
- Where is the warehouse? If most of your customers are in Spain, stock in Spain shortens delivery and return times. If you sell a lot in Germany or France, consider a multi-country network.
- Can it assemble kits and packs? And whether it does so in the same warehouse or subcontracts it.
Which 3PLs are compared for natural cosmetics in Spain?
1. Bolian Logistics
Bolian, part of Grupo Akoma (Barcelona), has a dedicated fulfillment for cosmetics and beauty brandsservice. According to its website, the system rotates stock by expiry date (FEFO) automatically, keeps batch traceability to locate any unit in the event of an alert, inspects returns with photos of the product’s condition and works under good distribution practice (GDP) with protocols for products regulated by Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
From the same warehouse it handles consumer shipments and B2B orders to distributors, pharmacies, perfumeries and retailers. It sets no minimum number of SKUs: it works with catalogues of 10-20 SKUs up to hundreds of SKUs with batch and expiry variants. The group, with 73,000 m² of storage capacity, also offers co-packing and handling services. Its case study with Pierre Fabre describes more than 100 weekly shipments to pharmacies, with products organised by SKU and batch in a locked clean room.
Best fit if… your stock will be in Spain, you sell online and to pharmacies, parapharmacies or shops, and you need batches, expiry dates and kits in a single operation.
2. Amphora Logistics
Barcelona-based Amphora has a cosmetics logistics page. It says it uses FIFO and FEFO, full batch traceability, order personalisation with marketing materials and branded tracking emails. It publishes case studies from beauty brands such as Mine Perfume Lab, Niche Beauty Lab and IDIDA, and combines the service with its in-house software.
Best fit if… you are a digital brand that values the provider’s software and branded tracking communication, or you plan to sell in Italy or the United States, where Amphora has hubs.
3. Bigblue
Bigblue lists beauty and skincare among the sectors it works with. Its website describes alerts for batches nearing expiry, batch inventory management with FEFO, custom packaging with samples and flyers, and a network of nine centres in France, the UK, Spain and Germany. It handles B2C and B2B from a central inventory.
Best fit if… France is a core market for your brand or you want stock in several European countries on a single platform.
4. byrd
byrd has a beauty, health and cosmetics fulfillment page. It mentions certified warehouses, ambient temperature conditions for sensitive cosmetics, batch and expiry tracking, compliance for products containing alcohol or aerosols, and kitting for subscription boxes. It names Absolute Collagen and NEOTES among its clients. Its centres are in Germany, Austria, France, the UK and Poland.
Best fit if… your sales are concentrated in Germany, Austria or central Europe.
5. ShipBob
For beauty, ShipBob describes batch tracking with FEFO, batch recalls, kitting and subscription management, and states that many of its centres are GMP certified. It names brands such as CLEARSTEM, Barefaced, Dossier and Touchland. In Europe it lists sites in the UK, the Netherlands and Madrid.
Best fit if… you also sell in the United States, Canada or Australia and want a single global provider.
6. Logisfashion
Logisfashion, which has its roots in fashion, also works for cosmetics, perfumery and parapharmacy. Its sector page covers expiry-based stock control, protection from light, temperature and humidity, and custom sets or boxes. It has sites in several Spanish provinces and in Latin America.
Best fit if… you are a mid-sized or large beauty brand with retail distribution or a presence in Latin America.
How do they compare at a glance?
| Provider | Batch and expiry | Online + pharmacy/retail | Warehouses | Best fit if… |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bolian | Automatic FEFO, batch traceability, GDP | Yes, same warehouse | Barcelona (group with 4 own sites) | Stock in Spain, online + pharmacy, kits |
| Amphora Logistics | FIFO and FEFO, batch traceability | Yes | Spain, Italy, Poland and the US | Digital brand focused on software and branding |
| Bigblue | FEFO batches and expiry alerts | Yes | France, UK, Spain and Germany | Focus on France or a multi-country network |
| byrd | Batches and expiry dates | Multichannel online | Germany, Austria, France, UK and Poland | Sales in central Europe |
| ShipBob | FEFO batches; GMP sites | Yes | 50+ centres (incl. Madrid) | Expansion beyond Europe |
| Logisfashion | Expiry-based control | Yes | Spain, Latin America and China | Beauty retail and Latin America |
Is a warehouse in Spain worth it if most of your sales are in Spain?
Usually, yes. With stock in Spain, mainland orders arrive in 24-48 hours and returns get back into inventory sooner, which matters for products with an expiry date. From the same warehouse you can sell in France or Portugal in 24-48 hours and Italy or Germany in 48-72 hours, according to the lead times Bolian publishes for its fulfillment in Europe. Splitting stock across several countries pays off when a foreign market already weighs as much as your home market.

What should you ask before signing with a cosmetics 3PL?
- A FEFO demonstration in the system: how the unit is allocated and how a batch is blocked.
- The batch recall procedure in writing, and the time needed to give you the list of recipients.
- The storage conditions (temperature, light) and how shipments are protected in summer.
- The returns criteria: what goes back into stock, what is destroyed and with what evidence (photos).
- How they prepare kits, samples and packs and how long they need to set up a new one.
- A real example of B2B orders to pharmacies or retail: paperwork, labelling and lead times.
- The delivery times by zone in writing, including the Balearic and Canary Islands.
- A visit to the facilities where your products will be stored.
At Bolian you can see how your catalogue would fit in a demo using your real data.
Frequently asked questions
What is FEFO and why does it matter for natural cosmetics?
FEFO (First Expired, First Out) means shipping the units that expire first. In natural cosmetics, where shelf lives are often shorter, it prevents customers from receiving products close to expiry and reduces write-offs.
Does a cosmetics 3PL need ISO 22716?
ISO 22716 sets out good manufacturing practice for cosmetics and mainly applies to whoever manufactures or handles the product. For storing and shipping finished goods, the usual requirements are batch traceability, FEFO and good distribution practice. If your operation includes handling that requires it, ask on a case-by-case basis: Bolian, for example, says it assesses this depending on the product.
Can the same 3PL ship to consumers and to pharmacies?
Yes, if it handles B2C and B2B in the same system. Ask for an example of a client who works that way, such as the Pierre Fabre case with more than 100 weekly shipments to pharmacies.
What happens to returns of opened cosmetics?
An opened product or one with a broken seal should not go back on sale. The provider must inspect every return, document it with photos and apply the criteria you have set for restocking, setting aside or destroying.
How many SKUs do I need to work with a 3PL?
It depends on the provider. Bolian, for example, says it works with catalogues from 10-20 SKUs up to hundreds of SKUs. What usually determines the fit is order volume, at around 500 a month.
How are natural cosmetics protected in summer?
Ask about warehouse conditions and packaging during hot periods. For very sensitive products, agree with the provider in advance what to do during heatwaves (extra packaging or a different transport service).
Can I sell across Europe from a warehouse in Spain?
Yes. From stock in Spain you can serve the whole EU with delivery times of 24 hours to 5 working days depending on the destination. If one country accounts for a lot of sales, a second warehouse can be considered later on.
